It is a very, very comfortable use, the keys really are a joy if you're chained to the keyboard for prolonged periods. Is it worth the extra 20 odd quid above, say, the Logitech Ultra Flat? Probably not if you stripped it down, but then again, the Saitek's keyboard action will last a lot longer.

Just looking the Logitech Ultra Flat now. It is actually quite stylish looking for such a cheap keyboard. It looks like it would match my samsung 22" with that black glossy look.

I'm quite fond of my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard and my Logitech G5 mouse (the '07 edition thats blue/black and has an extra side button. That side button is worth the extra few dollars, IMO).

It's a cracking keyboard for the price. If your a light fingered typist it'll last a while too.

I don't bang the keys but I am not exactly light fingered either!

Then I would expect you would see 12 -18 months before you started to notice a change in the action on it (rough guess going off this new one and the old version of the same). Change in the action doesn't mean unsuable by the way, but it's a consideration - but for a tenner, hey...

WOW, I like the Saitek Eclipse II.
I've been looking for a new keyboard, but I've only been looking at the basic offerings in PC world ( to check the size).
I'd like to see one in the flesh before deciding, but if its the size I thinkit is, I want one!

Re: Need your recommendations for new keyboard and mouse!

^^ The Eclipse II isn't the smallest keyboard i nthe world, but its similar to a lot of multimedia keyboards I've seen (and smaller than a lot of them). Its also the only keyboard I've ever used the wrist-rest; I usually despise the things. The keys are the quietest I've ever heard too (next to laptop keyboards, but the Eclipse doesn't that that thin 'click' soundwhen typing that laptops seem to have from those thin keys). I give it a 9/10 (I wish the blue backlights were brighter...no big deal). Its really good if you don't need all those 'extra' buttons on multimedia and gaming keyboards (I don't; a keyboard already has plenty of keys to bind commands to...play Rogue Spear - you literally could use the whole keyboard when issuing different commands...).

Is there much difference between the first and second Eclipse?

Ok, I am caught between Razor Tarantula and Eclipse 2 for the keyboard. The only reason I am considerin the eclipse is because of its popularity. The tarantula just looks more stylish are more in tuned with my taste. Although I wish I could hear how the keys sound on both.
