945G7MD-8EKRS2H + Celeron D 420 Fails to post
I think I am going to cry.
I just received a Foxconn 945G7MD-8EKRS2H, a Celeron D420 and a stick of Corsair 1gb DDR2.
Having been burnt by my last problems with an old 939 board and a new 3500+ I thought I would take it easy and do a peice by peice with the new machine.
So I installed the board. Fitted all the risers and screwed it all in place. Added the processor, the cooler making sure it was all clicked in place. Installed the ram, then the old 7800gt. Pressed the on switch, the fans spin up and... nowt. No beeps no nothing.
So I remove the PCIE graphics and the ram, and switch on hoping for some angry no memory beeps.
Zilch nothing at all. I have everything plugged in the two 4 pin motherboard connectors, the main connector with the 4 pin booster. I tried reseting the bios nothing doing.
Have I just been increadibly unlucky and got another duffer?
I'm so sorry to ask again. I'm no noobie to building machines. I build one on average every year/2 years for myself or family. All my previous builds bar the mentioned Ath64 worked fine. Including my own E4400 + Gigabyte 945G system.

Foxconn - Products: Motherboard
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
cleleron 420 is not a d type ( i think ) and is 800 fsb
it does not show on foxconns compatibility list
my guess would be they are not compatable but i have not used either

Thanks s3ds, it shows on the second list as Conroe-L and passes.
Foxconn - Products: Motherboard
You are right on the D type, I thought it was called the D 420 as there is an M 420.
Re: 945G7MD-8EKRS2H + Celeron D 420 Fails to post
i missed page 2 and i didnt know Conroe-L was a celeron :) im wiser now
did you notice it was spelt Cornroe-L under heading ( my spelling is bad so im happy to find typo's )
ok here are a few things to try
1. it has onboard VGA so remove the PCI-e and use that
2. check the memory is seated properly some times they click but are not connected
/ try in different slot
3. test memory in another pc ( if possible ) or try different memory
sorry if this is grandmother and eggs stuff
4. page 19 on download manual shows jumper for FSB 1066 is default have you changed this ?

Re: 945G7MD-8EKRS2H + Celeron D 420 Fails to post
sorry about item 4 its late and i must have click on wrong Mobo manual
the only other thing i can think of is checking to see if the mobo is shorting on a riser
im slowly coming to the conclusion its dead ive run out of suggestions
its anoying but some times they are DOA :(
edit - i have in the past pluged in a power supply from a dead pc into a working mobo to test and fried the mobo
is the PSU from the problem PC ?
Re: 945G7MD-8EKRS2H + Celeron D 420 Fails to post
Hi there I sat down and setup a wee testing rig with an old CRT, a couple of magazines to boost the motherboard up and a 300watt psu.
I tried the old athlon64 board, no boot. I tried an old AthXP known to be nodgy but would post success. Then finally the Celeron setup with no luck.
My last port of call is to try the ddr2 in my current working machine.
p.s. just tried the new coolermaster PSU with the old athxp system and it posts first time.
Update: The ram does work in my Core 2 machine. I think I will have to ask for an RMA.
