God Damnit...Not again, Another broken mobo

Bought a motherboard to replace my DFI NF4 SLI-DR, only to find the new board dying with the same symptom :S

Couple Good Boots -> Switched off and left for a couple of hours -> Would not boot -> Clear BIOS -> Boot Again -> Crash in BIOS -> No response to power button again.

Power supply (Hiper Type-R 580W) seems fine as it started up my 12 disk array fine when I use the Pin 14-15 trigger. I wonder what is the problem :S

Anyone got any idea what is going on :S

Spec: Foxconn 6150K8MA-8EKRS
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+
Memory: Adata DDR566
PCI Card: 3Ware 9500S-8

Nothing else plugged in except my logitech usb kb/mouse receiver

Bum board manufacturers, use Abit or Asus boards

I think it's the Hipers fault.. not for any technical reason.. just because its a hiper

can you try a different PSU with the next mobo you get just to rule it out?

DFI are great for industrial boards..never had one in my own pc's though.

Pulled the board out isolated and it still won't boot :S

Update:

OMG I tried plugging in the old 380W PSU from 5 years ago, BOTH boards booted !!!

Hipers have a habit of dying after a certain time frame. Thankfully they don't seem to take anything with them

Indeed, but I'm very surprised BOTH my Hipers died around the same time :S

First a 480W popped, now a 580W not powering up...

Weird though I could short pin14/15 to boot it but not by the motherboard.

The motherboard would have had a much higher current pull on the unit compared to just shorting the pins

A PSU is easy to replace - just be happy that you have no dead parts

The 2 hipers I had didn't last as long as any of the old generic PSUs I've had.

I'd rather pop into PC World and buy a Jeantech if I was caught in a bind!
