Mobo question

I'm usually leary of using suppliers I haven't used before. Also, I noticed a lot of other suppliers charge higher shipping rates... (TigerDirect being one I know of). NewEgg has free 3-day shipping and overnight shipping is only $20, which really isn't bad...

Shipping varies item by item, but you can't argue with free. I've found ClubIT to be as good as Newegg in normal customer service (haven't had to RMA to either so don't know how they compare in that).

I haven't RMA'd anything yet either (*knocks on wood*), but since I haven't built the rig yet (and this is my first), all I've tested so far is the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

I'll check out ClubIT, though, who knows, maybe I can shave a few more dollars off...

Btw, I have seen shipping rates for the same item vary by supplier. For example, back when I was stil looking at getting an eVGA 680i motherboard (A1), shipping from NewEgg was $6 or so, I believe. The same item's shipping for the same devivery speed from TigerDirect was soemthing like $14... :S Just a heads up for anyone out there, remember to compare your shipping and tax rates...sometime you might not be saving that extra ten dollars after all!

Sorry to revive a mostly dead thread, but a question came to mind, and I can't find the answer to it...

Is the PCI-Express 16x slot on the Abit IP-35 and/or the IP-35 Pro a PCI-e 2.0 slot? I have a 2.0-compliant card (the 8800GT), and want to get the extra bandwidth of PCI-e 2.0 (might as well get the most out of my card, you know...).

I don't believe they are no. Not on the Abit anyway although I do remember something about P35 supporting it.. I don't really think it will make a huge difference though.

If you really want 2.0 though I would recommend waiting for the X-48 boards. There has also been mention of a P45 chipset today but that's just concerning 1600mhz FSB as far as I know not PCIe 2.0

I've seen a couple of Asus boards that have PCI-e 2.0 a while back, but given the number of complaints I've heard against Asus lately, I'm staying away from 'em for now...

About PCI-e 2.0, I've heard it has twice the bandwidth of PCI-e 1.1. But would that really make a difference?

I'm still gonna get the Abit IP-35, unless someone names an equal-quality board with the same featureset that includes PCI-e 2.0 for about the same price-point of the IP-35 or the IP-35 Pro. Its soemthing I'd like to have, but its not a deal-breaker for the Abit unless I hearo f soemthing better.

There is no gfx card yet that needs PCI-E 2.0 afaik.
I don't believe that any P35 has PCI-E 2.0 although there was a rumour that the chipset may support it.
If you must have PCI-E 2.0 then I would suggest an X38 chipset mobo.

Its not soemthing I need; it was simply something I thought of that I didn't remember inquiring about earlier; I was just curious, really. I'm still likely getting the Abit IP-35.
