I might just wait for the new version of the P-45
Just a rumour of course but I posted something..somewhere earlier from custompc today
Rumour control: Intel to introduce P45 chipset in January 2008 | News | Custom PC
i was just curious about the definitively wrong with them other than an opinion from someone who benefits financially from the sell of said merchandise.
p-45 and x-48 are soon to be the newest chipsets
Exactly what problems? I'm interested to hear about them as I don't have any, not even the "BIOS freeze"....and I still haven't updated to the beta BIOS....and I am not a fan of any manufacturer
In fact, after the last 3 Asus boards I had (P5WDH-Dlx, P5W64WS and Blitz Formula), the QuadGT has been a breath of fresh air

I was very interested in the iX-38 as new board that would support me upgarding to a quad core sometime next year.
However, after reading this thread, I'm very worried.
I'm willing to wait for the iX-48, but I need a new mobo now.
Is the IP-35 still worthwhile?
The IP-35 is a great board. You can't go wrong with it for £70.
Essentially you could spend £130+ or whatever X38's cost now or upgrade the IP35 in a couple of years if you feel the need, where the £50+ saved plus a little extra will buy you a far superior board to the X38
I am very happy with my Asus P5K-E board....
I have a quad and this board has 8-phase power which is needed to get a good overclock out of the quad...
I have had no issues running it for the last 3 months.. overclocked to 3ghz on retail fan.
highly reccommend
