I read somewhere that there's supposed to be a delay due to a bug in the cpu at least for the quad cores, and that we may not see them until feb/march. The dual cores should still be out on time though.

Anandtech previewed the QX9770 (3.2 Ghz/1600 FSB). At equal clockspeed, the FSB does very little.

Thanks for the link......although 2 things to note from it:

    1. No comparison with current Q6xxx CPUs

    2. Complains about heat and shows a picture of a CPU with heatpaste seemingly applied using a trowel!

Well, you said 45nm (Q6xxx are 65nm). Which pretty much leaves only the QX9650. Anandtech also did a comparison of QX9650 and Q6xxx at the same clock. You'd miss the 1600FSB, but just add 1-2% for an estimate.

Re: So where are these new 45nm/Yorkfield Quad Cores?

I have just seen a number of rumors that the non extreme Yorkfield CPUs will be delayed for a couple of months, till early march.

For details, google for intel Yorkfield delay

The reason is either because of problems with motherboard support, or because AMD have not produced anything completive recently.

Re: So where are these new 45nm/Yorkfield Quad Cores?

We had a thread about it a few weeks ago (started by moi of course ).

The reason then was indeed that AMD wern't competetive enough to warrant releasing them.
