    Hard to make a wrong one between the two imo. The GTS will no doubt find a bit of extra performance from driver tweaks later on and is less power hungry..and shorter lol

    Re: 8800GTS G92 ----> 88ooGTX: Which?

    Hm. I'm just mildly miffed at the fact I bought a GTS 320 MB for around £180-£200 (cant remember the exact price) and missed EVGA's 90 day window to upgrade to a GT when they first came out by a few days.
    Because of the massive performance difference along with the useful amount of memory (320 MB is only just not enough) my G80 GTS is worthless.
    I'll probably keep it till the next gen bits are out and spend £200 ish on something that can actually play Crysis and games of that ilk.

    Re: 8800GTS G92 ----> 88ooGTX: Which?

    The old GTS is still a very capable card. My mate plays Crysis on his with no problems at 1680 x 1050 with medium detail which looks fantastic. It is the 640mb version but I doubt theres much in it.

    Worthless in that it has become difficult to sell and worth less than it was perhaps, but not hopeless at games at all.

    Building PC's is always a wait and see process but at some point you need to bite the bullet. Your PC will never be current for more than 6 months anyway. It just the game we all play.

    Nah its not.
    I have the EVGA 320mb Superclocked version and they regularly go on Ebay for £100+. I saw one at the weekend go for £126.

    Its still a good card and i play everything i like maxxed out and it copes great, albeit at 1400x900.

    I must admit, it was £220 less than a year ago, but, i didnt pay for it so not too cheesed off.

    I just took delivery of a 'paid for by boss' GTX and its fine.

    I think a step-up when the new GTX's(dont think htese will happen though) or 8900's appear though is on the cards.

    Re: 8800GTS G92 ----> 88ooGTX: Which?

    Well....I just took the plunge and ordered a G92 GTS to replace my BFG 320MB GTS OC.

    Hopefully for FSX it'll make some difference, as well as making Crysis run a little better.

    I'm such a geek....

    Mines exactily the same card. Just played COD4 on it with everything maxed out at 1680x1050.
    It seems that its only Crysis it has difficulty playing as COD4 runs perfectly smooth with no slowing down.
    I guess its just one game it has problems with and TBH I found the demo boring compared to COD4 anyway. I'll buy it when its a £10 game and a £150 GFX card can play it maxed out.
    Maybe the midrange version of the D10 or whatever Nvidia will call the successor to the D9 series GPU's will be up to it at 1680x1050

    So for my own sake, am I right in saying that any 512mb 8800GTS that you see are the new G92 cores? and are pretty awesome too?

    Man, you're ill and go away for 2weeks~ and miss all these new things (albeit not entirely hard to follow things ....)

    Thing is, its only Crysis that i cant play maxxed out on this card
    but!
    Who can??
    There isnt a card on sale than can so im not too worried about it.

    I could go out and buy an Ultra tomorrow and it still wouldnt run Crysis 'as its meant to be played'.

    Like you said, COD4 is maxxed for you.
    I run everything i play maxxed also......UT3/BF2/BF2142/Oblivion/Stalker/ET:Quakewars.

    I did actually pick up one of those GTX's that were on offer and tbh, the increase was hardly noticeable at the resolutions i play at so its back to the store tomorrow under the DSR's.

    My 8800GTS will certainly do all thats required until the 8900's appear so i will stay with it for another 2 months because although the new GTX i have atm (and the new GTS's) will give a few more FPS, you cant notice anything once the FPS is over 40 odd anyway. As long as it still maxes out and performs to that FPS im happy (and richer)
