    northbridge cooler and accerlero S1?

Just had my accelero S1 delivered in anticipation of getting an 8800gt after xmas.

Thought I'd it it to my 7800gt to get some thermal paste nicely ingrained into the surface.

Opened my case... bugger. forgot about my after market TALL northbridge cooler... gets right in the way... oh dear... (similar to this fella here link)

Thinking about a thermal take hr 05 to get around this problem, unless anyone else has any ideas?

Surprised not more people have reported this as a problem... couldn'd find many comparable things on google...

Is it just the fan getting in the way or all the northbridge cooler?

Most of the whole thing. The A8N set up is such that anything above about 1 cm tall, maybe 2, will get in the way of a dual slot solution.

toyed with the idea of bending/ cutting off some of the fins... not comforatble with that though when the hr-05-sli might work

If you're not happy with buying a cheapie Zalman cooler and cutting off the fins, then stick with the Thermalright one.

If you're after a laugh - I once modded a Zalman northbridge cooler only to find out I didn't need to - the GPU plugged in to the other PCI-E port on an SLi motherboard

    Heh.

    BUT:

Ah, now, see, there you've hit the nail right smack bang on the head: people keep saying the GPU will not work in the other PCIe slot, but perhaps I should just, like, try it?

I mean, it's in the blue slot at the moment... MIGHT it work in the black slot?

    Edit: no. No, it won't
