What to do with...

My old system, I bulit it myself about 3 years ago specs are as follows...

Cooler Master Centurion 530 Case (silver aluminium)
Asus A8N Standard SLi
AMD64 3500+ (venice)
1Gb Corsair Value Select DDR2
250Gb Seagate Barracuda HDD (SATA)
Gigabyte 256mb ATI Radeon X800 (pre-overclocked heat pipe cooled one)
Sony DVDRW drive

it also has a 500w PSU with a fan controller and two 120mm fans (front and back for god air flow).

I just replaced this with an intel viper coz I'm getting too busy to build a PC these days.


So firstly what do you all think I should do with this? its really too big to keep it knocking around under my desk.

how much do you think it would be worth if I sold it? (just the system no peripherals)

...I may just give it away, one of my colleagues has got kids and might be interested in it for them to use.

Are you sure thats DDR2? It looks like a 939 system.

I keep my old systems for testing purposes. As I know saling them would get me near to nothing than what I paid.

you could get some decent amount for flogging parts on ebay I suppose. And yes its a 939 system, can't be ddr2 its just ddr or the mobo and cpu are wrong.

Oops yes your quite right it isn't DDR2...

I thought about dismantling it and making a media pc out of it but to be honest I could do that on the cheap and get a much better peforming one what with AM2 CPUs being so cheap.

I actually have another idea, a friend of the family works for social services and theres a chap that she is sorting out a house etc for, he'd been given custody of his children so he's moved from the little flat he had. We're giving him our old dinning table, chairs etc... In my garage I have a 17" CRT montior and a shed load peripherals. I'm going to dig it all out and throw together a full system and give it to this guy. My good deed for Christmas.

I gave mine away to a fellow Hexite last week. At least I know it's in good hands.
