heatsink help
hi,
i currently have an abit ip35, with an e2160 and a zalman 9700 cooler.
no matter what i do the BIOS reports idle temps of around 45 degrees with windows reporting temps of around 60-65 when playing wow.
i know this is too high, so i have removed it, tightened the mounts, re-applied some AS and remounted, but no difference in temps.
any ideas what i might be doing wrong here?? i'm using the mounts that zalman supply, and tighening don the clamp as much as i can but it still feels slightly lose.
any suggestions please, or am i just missing something?

Re: heatsink help
I dont know about ur zalman...I havnt tried it....but you could see if it is seated properly....if its base is actually touching the processor chip...when you lift it up, does the thermal paste look like it was pressed, on both the heat sink's base and the processor?...since when did you change from stock cooler? were the temps like this from the start?

Re: heatsink help
oh its definatly touching.
i built my brothers e2180 on an asus p5kc last night and that sits around 25 in the BIOS.
even overclocked to 2.7ghz i was expecting load temps of around 40 with the 9700 not 60+ :(
