I've seen the game trailers. I heard crysis's ending was a dissappointment so cod4 was the choice for me. now just to find a good deal on it

I admit I havn't seen crysis at its best (who has in fact) but i'm tempted to say COD4's people look better but certainly crysis has much better scenery.
Well i thought so too...but Crysis's people look quite fine too...just that you dont get to see them at the best...they are not the highlight of the game....I play it on medium-high settings....the scenery and jungles are life like...sometimes you feel ur looking at a picture...photo realistic i mean

ive been wondering something. how much further can graphics go? we're all talking about crysis looking so good, and even cod4. well how much better can a game possibly look? surely these kind of games are starting to reach the pinnacle of graphics?
look at when farcry came out, it was amazing. now look at the difference between farcry an crysis. do you think in 4-5 years there will be a game out which the same noticeable difference? its hard to imagine
there's always 100% life like visuals, but wouldnt that be a bit weird blowing the brains out of a person on screen if it had totally realistic graphics?
personally i'd be quite happy if every game from this point had graphics on par with crysis or even bioshock, because they are truly stunning PLUS we'd not have to keep upgrading
I'm sure game designers will come up wih something to make use of all the processing power you have sitting on (or under) your desk
yeah you are right, I used to think about this as well, I thought the end would be on something like a truly interactive movie, life like imagery, but thats far fetched, secondly as you mentioned, it would be a bit uncomfortable killing and beating real-looking people. But there is definitely more room, imagine proper 3D virtual gaming, in a room, with CRYSIS playing on all 4 walls, you wearing those glasses, seeing the game like you are in it, walking on a treadmill kind of thing, holding a laser pointed gun...that would be something cool

I like the idea of these 3D monitors that I think i'm right in saying already exist. I'd like to have a go on one.. although I'd probably end up being sick lol
the glasses exist from what i know...give you a 3d view...but not so interactive over all....no monitor to my knowledge...

Much further to go yet. Just look at some of the work on these rendering forums where people model people/cars/cities which look almost like photos.
Regarding C2Ds. They'll probably last just as long as any other generation of CPUs. They've been out over a year now? Quad core is here. Next will be 8 core, why not?
At the end of the day, what really drives the market is the cost. There's pretty much three standard price points (Budget, Mid-Range, Enthusiast) in the PC market and all that changes is what you get for your cash.
For example, my current build cost about £1200 including monitor, I'm planning on it lasting 4 years, replacing the GFx card in two years time to keep things chugging along and then, when the next version of Windows is out, replace the whole thing.
With a 7600GT?
or is your spec wrong in your avatar.
AS far as the CPUs are concerened, i see no need to change out my C2D until the next Generation Quads are in full flow and i will get a mid range one when they appear.
I always change my mobo when a new core is require aswell (not always forced to) and as soon as the iX48's hit the shelves i will be going for that.
I first had a go on 3d glasses back in 1999 on the intell stand at ects in london back when I worked for virgin interactive/interplay.
They were demoing it with Messiah, looked bizzar to anyone without the glasses but putting them on was a differnt story.
I'm not sure how far the technology has advanced but back then it would only run on a CRT monitor because you needed 90mhz or faster frequencies (ideally 120-150mhz)
They were great as they were far smaller and lighter than a VR headset and you didn't get the eye strane from stareing at small displays 6 inches from your face.
Nop, its correct,im using a 7600GT, stock though. I play on medium-high, 1024x786 resolution though, if you have seen the options in CRYSIS, ive set object quality to high, shaders to high, post processing and volumetric to high, rest medium, works pretty good for me. The game chugged with my stock processor, but its running pretty fine since my overclock to 3.0Ghz.
Forgot to mention that im using Nvidia beta drivers 169.09, they are specially optimized for Crysis, before these drivers I could not even run crysis on low settings smoothly
