Gaming Headphones

Anyone got Saitek Cyborg 5.1 Headset, are these any good. Otherwise any suggestions on a good set of gaming headphones with surround sound and detachable microphone.

A word of advice - don't get the Razers. Normally I love their products, but in this case I make the exception. Shocking build quality and the sound is average really for the cost.

Ive heard that the SpeedLink Medusa SL-8793 5.1 ProGamer Edition the SpeedLink medusa headsets are great for surround sound and sound quality, they also have a detachable microphone. But they are sightly pricey but are a really nice pair of headphones

I've been using some SteelSound 5H v2s for about 6 months now and they're freakin' fantastic, great build quality too.

I have a pair of these and they are xtremely comfortable.

There is also a version (PC141) which comes without the USB sound card (which is detactable I think)

Using medusa's at the moment, from reviews i found that they have pretty much the best sound and build quality around + the sound is amazing i even use them as speakers sometimes they are loud bass is superb with some nize tracks

I also have the Medusas. I liked the fact that they weren't USB (and thus made use of my soundcard EAX). And the mike is very good, which your co-players will appreciate, even if you don't.

Downsides - the headset, although comfortable, makes my head sweat after a few hours.

Do they have to be surround sound? As from my own experience Iv found that a decent set of stereo headphones can be just as good at spatial positioning (for gaming) and sound effects/sound quality, but obviously come into their own even futher when listening to music etc.... Get a decent seperate mic and your away!

I had a set of Medusa 5.1 (still do their in a cupboard ) I replaced them with stereo Sennheiser 160's. Which have better build and sound. But yes not 5.1.
The Medusa's are good for what you pay.

Yup, iv got some Sennheiser pc150's, and some HD595's with seperate mic.....both beat any past expereinces iv had with 5.1 headsets....

I did look at them and they were a little bit too pricey. I'm looking at around the £50 mark. I have a 7 week old son and thought I would invest in a set of good headphones as to keep the noise down when he's sleeping. At present I have a set a fatality headphone which are ok but feel and sound a little cheap.

Are these headphones 3.5 jack or USB?

I've got the Medusa's as well, although RMA'd at the moment becuase the mic packed up and had to send everything back, but otherwise they are great. There are a three different versions available with the same headphones and mic, one that uses 3.5 jacks, one that's USB, and one that includes a breakout box so you can connect your speakers and headphones using 3.5 jacks and switch between the two.

Ive got the Medusa's with the break out box, had them for ages and still going strong
