    Re: Laptop advice

Some systems are better at controling the fan than others.

Some can turn the fan on at a lower voltage to keep the speed and hence noise down. Others will turn it off completely, let to heat build up, spin the fan to cool it down and the repeat.

    Re: Laptop advice

If its very noisy, there should be an option somewhere to force the fan on/off. On my laptop (toshiba) its under power management. I can also turn down the fan, but I'm not sure how good it is, so I just have the fan on or off.

Another option is to look into laptop cooling stands.

    Re: Laptop advice

If your laptop can't cool itself, it will just throttle back on the CPU frequency until it can.

It's all down to what you want from your laptop and what you are using it for.

LOL - did you misunderstand the OP or are you saying the fan falls off inside the laptop case and you have to refit it?
