Unhappy new shuttle dont work too healthy

Hi people, i recent bought a sn45g to replace my old case, and was delighted to get it etc. but when i set it up and installed i noticed there are more than a few problems with software.

Basically i installed XP and it kept crashing, probelms every 20 mins like irq_not_less_or_equal and other driver errors, so i updated all the drivers to brand spanking new ones, and updated windows to top notch stuff and that seems to happen less now. Any way then another problem appears. Programs dont install, half the time you go to install and they say they are corrupt (work on other pc's) or just crash and windows goes off on one about error reports. This is damned annoying when setting up a pc. Anotehr problem is you insert a cd into the drive and the computer just locks up completeley, or just ignores it. All this hardware worked before in my old pc (a spacewalker shuttle ak32).

Here is a list of whats in my new cube with the hope that someone can tell me whats going on, ive reformatted windows xp once and got the same problems again the next time, im completely lost.

    cube sn45g (sys temp 44)
    athlon xp2100+ (temp 48)
    512mb OEM 2100 ddr ram
    gainward geforce 4 ti4200 64mb
    maxtor 40gb main hard drive
pinnicle t-rex pctv card in PCI
    maxtor 20gb secondary hard drive
    BTC 52x cd-rw drive

are there any known problems I should look at, or does anyone know any tircks to fix this? seriously lost by now

    thanks

    rich

by the way i got this man yerrors just while trying to post this message:

thats it, try other RAM the SN45 dont like every RAM.... 2 Modules are better then 1 (2x256MB or 2x512MB) for using Dual Channel

Just out of interest, the things that you are having problems installing, are you trying to install them from CD or are the install files on your hdd?

I only ask cuz it's possible your problems lie in the cd-rom area. Its probably a long shot but it might be worth looking at.

no its a mixture, because i thought that at first too, some off cd rom dontwork, some off hdd. but when i install xp for example it works faultlessly

i did think abotu ram being an issue as its just OEM, its 2 256mb sticks tho... and i cnat relly afford to replace it, do you rekon that could be a serious problem then?

get that and whack it on a floppy, reboot system, and let it test the ram, that'll allow you to check whether the ram is faulty

    is it working then ???

i am having similar problems ! my specs are startlingly similar:

    Shuttle SN45G
    Athlon 2100+
    512 Crucual PC2100
    Gainward GeForce 4 4600
    LG DVD Multiwriter
    Samsung 160Gig Hard Drive

However mine is running at 53 degrees according to MBM. MemTest didn't pick up any problems tho

I think it may be a heat problem. I am currently underclocking it to a 1500+ and it hasn't crashed yet.
