Not sure if anyone has already posted this but it doesn't look good if you're planning a build in January.

PC Pro: News: Intel delays new 45nm processors
saw this over at extreme overclocking forums.
makes me feel a lot better about buying my q6600 last week :p
though it's a bit of a shame that the only reason they are stopping the consumer from recieving a superior product is because of a lack of competition :(
:censored:
That\'ll be the only delay to my PC me hopes. If anything else gets delayed I will be suicidal :O_o1:

Q6600 can be had for £145ish now. I would just get that. It\'s a fantastic chip and I can\'t imagine you noticing a difference between that and the new ones day to day.
That is bad news indeed...
Hopefully they will come out at the same time as the new nvidia cards
In some ways it proves that waiting isn't always best. If you need it now, then get it now.
Waiting in the PC market is a little pointless anyway - there's always something new round the corner.
I wouldnt say 4-6 weeks is long to wait for a better chip.
Have you thought that this 'might' be yet another ploy by Intel to get rid of the old stock before shipping the new?
Everyone waiting for the new core will buy the old one...then the new will magically appear early.
Cynical??? Probably...........
Any form of truth in it?......wouldnt suprise me.
Intel are showing what happens when you have a monopoly. It is this sort of behaviour that helps drives up AMD sales - when they have a product...

Gobbob instead of complaining about SCAN in here why not PM one of them or open a thread in the SCAN care section?
*shrugs* probably just building up volume and better speed bins so they can release a whole range.
Read this yesterday evening, the build will have to wait a while it seems, not to worry.
Any idea on the new pricing strategy on the new Intel chips and also the newer Nvidia cards?
Thanks.
Most games at the moment are GPU limited anyway, so I think I'll just upgrade whenever nVidia release their new cards. Hopefully they don't delay as well.
