    New colour laser printer needed

    Hi all

my faithful epson c900 has finally died after several years of service.
I am thinking of replacing it with an HP laserjet 3600 or an epson c1100.
Have any of you got either of these? If so what do you think of them?

    Thanks for the help.

    i am a printer engineer,

if its HP and under warranty you can expect a lot of phone calls and about a 75% chance of over the phone misdiagnosis, ending up with me coming out with the wrong part as they only ship what they think you need. then taking up to a week to get the possible right part out.

if you get a C1100 you get an engineer out the next day with a flight kit full of C1100 spares, if i cant fix it i order up another machine that arrives the day after to keep you printing.

also see if you can get the 3 year extended warranty as it covers anything when we come out..

If you are low print volumes have you considered the Samsung CLP-300? I have one and its good for the odd print I do.

Re: New colour laser printer needed

The Samsung entry level colour laser printers seem good. Quite inexpensive, and fast. Better specs than the other manufacturers offerings at the same/similar price point. Printing is fast and of good quality.

Re: New colour laser printer needed

As both myself and wife are teachers (Secondary and primary) we generally get through a box of paper per month, mostly black and white but a ream a month color as well.

Thanks to GoNzO for the response on relative warranties thats something to bare in mind.

A review in computer shopper put the total cost of ownership over three years at

    £1518 for the HP
    £2241 for the epson

Plus the hp ships with 6000 black and 4000 color toners against the epsons 1500 for all colors. The cheapset prices I've found are :-

£242 for the HP and £196 for the epson.

The samsung toners seem rather small.

thanks in advance for any other thoughts

The Kyocera C5015 and C5020 are very good with very low runniing cost, although the initial purchase price is failrly high. (The 5020 is probably the better buy)

I highly rate the Konica Minolta 5440 DL, although it's a bit of a beast..

Konica Minolta Magicolor 5440 DL - TrustedReviews

Bought one for work and it ran to around £350, but it's very fast, and has a very nice output

Re: New colour laser printer needed

Then and again, I advise Brother HL4570CDW as the best color laser printer. It has very low upkeep cost in the long and great print speed too. But it is a bit too noisy like all other Brother printers.
