hello,
ive got a xfx 8800gt nvidia graphics card.
I want to connect my pc up to my tv.
atm cant seem to find an s video socket on my tv.
the graphics card comes with a kinda spliiter cable
one end has s video to connect to the graphics card.
on the other end
there is a green socket labeled Y
there is a blue socket labeled pb/comp
there is a red socket labeled pr

my tv has three sockets on the side of the tv and they are white,red and yellow which i normal use for my nintendo wii. can i use the spliiter above using a white red and yellow cable?

For my laptop I bought a cheap (~$10) S-Video to RCA Video (the Yellow header) from ebay and that works fine.

The red and white colored inputs are for left and right audio and they can't be used for video.

The Red/Green/Blue cables are component cables (Component video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The cable you got with the card is a component HD cable, so probably not going to work. You might find a SVideo cable fits in the card (the small circular port) and allow you to connect it to the TV, You'll only get standard resolutions on the TV, but then I'm guessing you don't have an HD tv?

You can get DVI to HDMI leads.

I'm currently waiting on one to arrive at the moment.

Yep - I have DVI-HDMI on mine, but I suspect the OP doesn't have HDMI on his TV as he's using composite to connect his Wii.

You can get a s-video>scart adaptor for a few quid, I'm sure your TV will have a scart socket as you're in the UK.

BTW, if you want to get the best picture from your Wii don't use composite, get a RGB cable.

somewhere in my house ive got a scart adaptor with composite and s video.
if i can find it i will use it. it worked when i connected the camcorda to the tv once.
if i cant can you get a cable with s video on one end and rgb scart on the other end?

Probably your best best is the Scart adapter, although I've had mixed results with those, sometimes only getting B+W through SVideo. If you have a VCR (or DVD Recorder) you may be able to daisy chain through that via SVideo as well.
