if i had to get one today
this one Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK (Samsung SH-S203D/BEBN)
I use the Samsung Drives. very quiet and short which is useful for smaller cases.
Another vote for the Samsung.
Agreed. Fitted one of these about 6 weeks ago. Was able to boot Linux distros that the old drive (still working OK) couldn't handle.
The shorter case is good - easier to get the connectors on and doesn't foul the mobo.
thumbs up for samsung again here
The Pioneer drives have never failed me, I've had the 104, 105, 108, 110, 111, 112, 115 (Still Do) & 212 (Still Do).
Have heard the Samsung drives are very quiet, as noise can be an issue with many people.
By the way, how short are the Samsung drives?
Another vote for the samsung drives, have their lightscribe drive and cant fault it at all.
Samsungs are as short as my 5.25" cages are. If it helps they do not peek out of the cage in a silverstone TJ08 (small uATX tower) which is very beneficial. Most are this sort these days but you never know until someone tries it :)
