    Logitech Z2300 2.1 Speakers

Looking at getting a set of speakers for my pc. Currently using my stereo which, unfortunately, is on it's last legs.

The above is the set I have got my eye on however I've never brought/kept up-to-date on the whole PC speaker market.

I could splash out on 5.1/7.1 but at the moment I can't see the benifits, not for me anyhow... (at current prices).

I first looked at the Abit iDome D500 but the pricetag was rather high for just a 2.1 system.

Reviews I have found on the above Logitech speakers are good but they were written back in 2004!!!

Ahh yes, what I'll be using it for. Mainly music and watching DVDs (not yet decided on venturing into Blu-ray/HD-DVD arena yet).

Oh and it'll be using the onboard sound (gah...I should buy a dedicated sound card...) on the FP-IN9 SLi (yes I know I shouldn't have been a scrooge and got the IP35 Pro ).

So basically, just any scare stories or warnings (such as wires provided are STUPIDLY short, EM interefence etc.), better recommendations (perhaps the pros for jumping into the 5.1/7.1 arena), or concurrence that this is a good buy.

PS I was (and suppose still am) a bass junkie/audiophile (in terms of low-end quality and not sheer volume, though alot of volume doesn't hurt )

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Logitech Z2300 2.1 Speakers

If you are a bass junkie you would want the largest sized subwoofer you can get for a reasonable amount of money. The 5.1/7.1 systems will gererally have larger subwoofers as will slightly higher end 2.1 systems.

The Z2300 are a well balanced set, but it all depends on how much you want to spend?

    Ahh yes, budget...forgot that bit.

Looking to spend £100 tops really. Unless someone shows me a high end 5.1/7.1 for around the £150 mark.

Well I went and got the Z2300. Very nice they are. Stuck some tunes through them and they seem to do the job.

There are a few minor points but it maybe due to the sound card/winamp playback rather than the speakers themselves. Still for sub £100 I can't complain, build quality seems good.

Lets see if I can up the bass enough to get my sound activated lights going again! (Along with upsetting the neighbours!!!)
