1 IDE cable to 2x SATA drives?

Anyone seen a SATA convertor that has 2 SATA output?

I basically want 2 SATA drives, one on master, one on slave.

Its an old system, so don't tell me to buy a PCI card, or use one per ide...

buy two sata-to-ide adapters. they generally have a master-slave switch on them.

of course, that'll cost you at least as much as a bottom of the range sata controller card, but hey, you said you didn't want to be told to buy one of those

Oh great, I'll just buy some more then
    - the ones I have used/seen didn't have a master slave switch or jumper though.

I'm not 100% clear on what you're after?

You have a IDE port on your motherboard and want to attach SATA drives to it, or you have a SATA port on your mobo and want to attach IDE drives to it?

I thought the SATA->IDE controllers only supported the IDE being the device side (eg. the hard disk) and wouldn't work plugged into a mobo?

Re: 1 IDE cable to 2x SATA drives?

I have a single IDE slot on the mainboard, and want to connect 2x SATA drives.

I wasn't aware the newer converters had master/slave switches, so as above 2 of those should do me fine.

You can get convertors for either way.

directhex: this aint a PC ... no PCI slots

lambdatek are a little cheaper, now I know what I'm looking for
Startech IDE to 2x SATA for £20.15

I guess one of those chinese ebay sellers will be selling them for a few quid if I can find the right model
