Advice on Motherboard connections
Over the years I have done many upgrades to computers. The only task I have not done with hardware is install a new motherboard. I have got a used Abit NF-M2 nView. I have installed it into a new Akasa Zen case. But have a couple of things I want to check.
All the cables are labeled E.G. HLED and PWR. On the plugs there is a small arrow. Does this arrow indicate the positive? Therefore knowing which way round it goes on the motherboard? As in the arrow is the positive.
Secondly I have a cable marked speaker. Obvious what it is but I cannot be sure from the instructions where on the motherboard this goes. I have plugged the plug that is labbled audio in the FP Audio (I presumed this was front panel audio?) But not clear on the speaker lead. The only place I can see is marked on the board that it would go is marked CD1. But I thought this would be for any audio out from CD drive.
As I am new I cannot post URL. But please visit Abit UK and see the PDF manual for a diagram
I would appreciate any help.
Re: Advice on Motherboard connections
OK after zooming in on the PDF diagram I can now see where the speaker cable goes (bottom right) BUT... I still need to know for sure if the triangle on the plugs indicates a positive. Therefore thats the way round I connect it to the mobo.
Re: Advice on Motherboard connections
The triangle is positive.

Thanks for the response. That gives me peace of mind.
Re: Advice on Motherboard connections
As far as switches go it doesn't matter which way round they are connected.
The power and hard disk LED's it does matter which way round they are connected - you will not break anything but they will only light up if they are the right way round.
