    Exclamation Yay Barton 2500

Well i just purchased my Barton 2500 and 512 MB corsair 3200 LL ram and it should arrive tommorow or the day after!!
I was wondering if because the ram has a higher fsb than the CPU is it ok to run it out of sync?? (the cpu @ 333 and ram @ 400)??
I have herd that the other way (with the ram slower) slows down the system but what about this way?

Running athlon memory higher than the fsb is like putting a big black man with a midget philipino; The high end wont get put to good use, and it's a cpmlete waste of his time.

most decent mobo's ( abit/epox/asus/dfi etc) will run around 220-230 fsb. The reason you bought hardcore corsair LL, is so as you can overclock your fsb to the max and still run your mem in 1:1 sync so as to get the max perfrmance from this architecture

    NOT

so you can run your ram asynchronous from your fsb and get rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe performance

    ok?

    how's my spelling?

on a more sober note, is your barton multiplier locked (i.e post week 40, bought within the last 2 months or so)?

    sorry for last night

    ok i'm gonna try agian,

    the 2500 i s fsb 333 by default
you have ordered low latency 400 mhz ram

IF you run the cpu at default speed fsb then you will get best performance by running the mem at 1:1 ie 333 ie. a complete waste of expensive memory.

Ideally you should run ur fsb at 400 (200ddr) with your your ram also at 400 and the lowest possible timings.

If your cpu is multiplier unlocked pre-week 40) then you can set the multiplier and run the cpu at whatever speed you want. If your cpu is post week 40 and multiplier-locked then this will mean the cpu will run at 2.2 ghz, the same as an xp3200+ .
This i sno bad thing, and most 2500's can handle it with a little voltage increase.

Indeed provided adequate cooling, this should be what you are aiming for.

the above comments shall self destruct upon sobriety. i hope.

CAN YOU BELIEVE that Ben Kingsley did Sneakers? I know its a fairly entertaining film, but this guy was ghandi!

& with decent cooling, good RAM (as he has) & a halfway decent chip he can run it faster than 200fsb even if it is multiplier locked
