Which boards have the most Ram slots?

I'm in the process of putting together a spec for a new machine, and I want to take advantage of the favourable pricing currently on 1Gb ram.

However, I'm struggling to find a board with more than 2 slots - Ideally I would like at least 8 slots (so I can have 8Gb ram). Does such a thing exist in the PC world? (my day-to-day machine is a mac).

Haven't yet decided whether to go with Intel or AMD, so flexible in that respect.

I don't know where you're looking but I would find it near impossible to find an ATX board WITHOUT 4 slots, even most micro-ATX boards have 4. You won't find more than 4 outside of server boards though and there you usually need registered/FB-DIMM RAM.

Why don't you install 4x2GB?? It will cost around the same as buying 8x1GB, then you have plenty of motherboards to choose from.

I'd go for 4 mem slots and 2Gb ram modules - otherwise you'd need a workstation/server board and may be 2 processors to make it work.
