is this the Core Duo cpu? as in a C2D is a Core2Duo and this a CoreDuo? or is it a Pentium Dual Core (whatever that is) which is it and how would it compare to a C2D? and for the bang for buck does that look nice? i love that its 12.1".... obviously won't be gaming. just vista or xp-sp2 (most likely as it comes with it and is lower on resources) running photoshop and burning shiz off and browsing etc... will want to run it through my 37" HDTV aswell... will it be able to do this... Oh and what cables do I need? and will it do my 1080i 1366x800 (i think thats right?) resolution?
cheers.
Re: Another Laptop Question(s) (sorry:P)
its the cheapo pentium dual core.
nothing really wrong with the processor, just the rest of the spec lets it down in the laptops its installed in.
Re: Another Laptop Question(s) (sorry:P)
These Pentium Dual Core are slightly slower than Core2Duo. May be up to 20%, but they are fast enough they rarely go up to 100% CPU anyway.
1080i is 1920x1080 or 1920x848 depending on the aspect ratio of the film.
There is nothing that let the CPU down. It is a laptop, not a desktop. 12.1" no one is gonna do serious gaming on that machine.
I have GMA950 on my C2D T7200 laptop and it runs UT2004 at 1280x800 perfectly fine.
Using integrated graphics keep power usage low which is what a laptop is for.
Not sure why many branded laptop companies only provide 10/100 LAN not 10/100/1000 though. (Mine came with Marvell 88E8055 GbE :P)

Re: Another Laptop Question(s) (sorry:P)
Pentium dual cores ARE C2Ds, exactly the same architecture etc, just less cache and clocked lower. Some people are reporting up to 100% ocs on stock cooling, but obviously not on laptops :o
Re: Another Laptop Question(s) (sorry:P)
oh an WHY get a laptop if you could get a cheaper, faster, overclockable desktop?
If you needed to carry a computer around with you wouldn't really need amazing specs, just type word docs or whatever. :)
