Help with choosing parts - Q9450 compatible system

I have finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade even though the new quads are not out yet...

I will recycle my 5 old HDDs and graphics card (7600GS - I don't play games) but I will need new case, PSU, RAM and a stop-gap cpu.

    PSU will be corsair 520W
    RAM 2 x 2GB pc6400
CPU e21x0 or whatever I can get cheap 2nd hand

I need suggestion for the case and motherboard please to fit this criteria
case - stacker style (i.e. with capacity to add many hard drives), big, cool, nice looking, window if possible (not important)
motherboard - ddr2, compatible with new cores, good overclocker, would be nice to have esata(not essential)

    Thanks

    Motherboard. IP-35pro (has eSATA)
I think the standard IP-35 is a better board given the relative prices but that doesn't have eSATA. (it's been £64 this week on scan)

    If you prefer asus
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK great overclocking board and eSATA.

I like abit myself due to overall quality and support.

Case. Antec Nine Hundred Seems to tick all those boxes. Not the biggest of cases but fantastic cooling, quiet, window and a fair few hard drives. (6 I believe, with 3 5.25" spaces still avaliable)

Do you want a HSF for the quad? Take a look at the scythe range (I use the ninja) and thermalright ultima90 or 120 Extreme.

Doesn't really seem worth getting the stop-gap CPU but yeah the E2140. Only £38ish even if you have to buy new.

Re: Help with choosing parts - Q9450 compatible system

I thought the P35 boards are not 1333fsb compatible... am I wrong? I was thinking that x38 might be better because for the future compatibility... Is the P5E as good as the P5K?

I will probably go for a ninja with a low rpm fan

As for the case, I do like the 900 but I thought that it would be a bit noisy

    Thanks staffsMike...

Re: Help with choosing parts - Q9450 compatible system

Yeah the IP-35 is native 1333MHz FSB and X38/X48 FSB most if not all support the 45nm quads. The pro was on scan today only for £99 this week

Two schools of though over P35 vs X38.

Get a pretty good P35 now as it will support your new quad and overclock well i'm sure.
Then when/if you want to upgrade to a new CPU you upgrade the board (talking 2 or 3 years i'm guessing).

Spend 30% or more extra on the X38 - X48 which will support the next 1600MHz chips but in 2 - 3 years probably won't support the new CPU you want. That and DDR3 will be better by then but DDR2 is the way to go now.

This seems like a good deal but has been riddled with problems up until now.
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

I believe a new bios has addressed most of the problems though.

EDIT: The nine hundred is actually very quiet. Comes with antec tri-cools (3 speeds) and on low which is all you need they are next to silent
