    Dell XPS M1330

    Hi guys,

I just ordered myself an XPS M1330 because of the excellent spec at the current discounted price... around £250 off just now!

I was wondering if anyone else has one and what their thoughts are? So far what I have read it has excellent reviews....

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Re: Dell XPS M1330

if its the t7500 and 8400gs then its not a bad spec, but i am not a fan of dells.
how much did it set you back?

saw a MSI today with a t2*** running 2ghz so its the old core duo, came with ATI x2300 and was only 350 new!

If the XPS M1210 is anything to go by, it will be a fantastic machine. And fully worth the price if you use it on a daily basis and move around with it a lot.

    Re: Dell XPS M1330

Thats is pretty much the spec I have for my XPS M1330. It's a fantastic little laptop and has for the most part made my desktop take a back seat lol.

I have the 9 Cell battery and 200gb 7200rpm drive.

It's very light for what it is. Tthe screen is fantastic, plenty bright enough to counter sunlight. The peformance is admirable from such a small machine. Running XP you are hard pushed to notice a difference from my desktop (similar to yours) day to day.

It's also very capable at playing games for what it is.

Excellent! Yeah I am pretty chuffed! Deal on dell was great too!

I mainly want it for web development so I can take my cmoputer with me etc...

I hear it comes with 4 partitions... restore and the media thing etc. Did you keep it? Or just create your own?

Does the remote work with media centre?

    Re: Dell XPS M1330

they sell many similar specs here for less, example:
asus V2 is 14'' and has the 2ghz version of the C2D with the 8600 and thats 750.
though i hear dells warranty is good.

man i gotta get my website running and start selling these things!

Dell XPS Warranty - more than worth the difference.

And the Asus looks nowhere near as good as the Dell. Also does it come LED backlit screen ?

Asia (cheap) - UK (expensive).. That should explain it really. I actually ordered a similarly spec'ed M1330 as the OP in HK (with a slightly slower CPU and went for the 7200RPM 200GB HD with 9 Cell battery) and quite a lot of extras (spare 6 cell battery so that I can go slightly lighter at time, Vista Ultimate, better warranty). It also came with a promotional 4GB of RAM at no extra cost and the whole thing came at just over £800. However, Dell had problem with supplies at the time and asked for three weeks wait (that I did not have), so I ended up having to cancel that order.

that is an excellent deal, shame you had to cancel. My current estimated delivery is 22nd Jan... fingers crossed it will come sooner. It is currently on step 2 (Pre-production)...

Wow, it sounds like they still take some time. Is this typical of Dell orders, or is this particular model?

Not a clue, first time I have ordered from Dell. However, at my work we are using dell machines and recently ordered new desktops and they arrived within a week I think. Hoping the m1330 will arrive next week... fingers crossed!!! I think the component shortages are all sorted now, but I am not sure!

When I ordered my laptop, the stages went through surprisingly quickly. I had it in less than a week.

i guess the dell warranty saves it!.
they just refuse to sell it here in taiwan as its made in china, anything made in china must be cheap, if its not they just dont sell it.
plus if it is made in china its well marked out so you know it is.

    mines made in taiwan

a 8600 geforce is a load better than the 8400 isnt it?

Yeah much better, that is what the new XPS M1530 are shipping with... each having a different size of dedicated memory.
