    Samsung 245B - DOA?

Just received a Samsung 245b from scan & am very impressed with the look of it, however i think it is DOA.

When i plug it in & turn it on the blue light comes on but the screen stays black, iv tried it on another PC with the same result. The computer detects it is there, connected & allows you to fiddle with the resolutions(im on a dual screen steup) but nothing appears on the screen, it just stays black.

Its connected to a 6600GT, but i tried it on a PC with a 8600Gt with the same result.

Can anyone think of anything i might have missed?

    Cheers guys.

Does it have more than one input? if so have you selected the correct one. Does the screen have a menu, or are you unable to see that too?

Pressed the menu button but nothing appears. Tried both the DVI & VGA, screens stays black & nothing appears even when its powered, but no input is plugged in. Surely without an input a screen would appear saying 'No input...etc'?

    Re: Samsung 245B - DOA?

AFAIK the OSD should appear even if there's no video cable at all!

If you've tried it with different cables/inputs/PCs then it does seem dead. (I had a 28" CRT TV like that once - 35kg to get back in to the box. I plugged in the replacement and listened for the 'thump' /before/ taking out of the box).

    Re: Samsung 245B - DOA?

Thats what i thought, figured id just double check with hexus before the RMA went thru. Last thing i need is a no fault find & pay the delivery costs on a screen this size.

    thanks for the help guys.

    Re: Samsung 245B - DOA?

It could be too late but i think it's safe to say that it is DOA.

I own a Samsung syncmaster 2232 - 22" monitor and it should be identical to yours bar a few styling changes. When you turn it on the blue power light should come on BUT ALSO the backlight for the panel comes on and there should be a small box on screen switchign between the VGA and DVI ports. Now after a minute or less of no signal, the generic OSD appears to say check your signal inputs.

    I hope that helps.
