It is supposed to be end of Q1 but you never know. If AMD's phenom starts picking up sales then Intel might pull the trigger.

That is supposed to be when the new Quads are out, the new C2D's however are due by the end of Jan supposedly.

Think it was supposed to be end of Jan but they pushed it back a bit due to lack of competition.

    Re: Penryn release date....

C2D E8*00 are supposedly to be released on 20th Jan. The quads Q9*** are going to be later around Feb/March.

I've been trying to get some info regards overclocking and price of these chips but there's not alot out there.

    Prices/spec

    E1200 $53 1.6GHz/512KB L2/800MHz FSB/65W

    Q9300 $266 2.5GHz/6MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£135.00)

    Q9450 $316 2.66GHz/12MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£160.38)

    Q9550 $530 2.83GHz/12MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£268.99)

    E8190 $163 2.66GHz/6MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£82.73)

    E8200 $163 2.66GHz/6MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£82.73)

    E8400 $183 3.00GHz/6MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£92.87)

    E8500 $266 3.16GHz/6MB L2/1333MHz FSB (£135.00)

But as usual I expect that we won't get the exact dollar to pound rate conversion.

Initial overclocking is looking very good for the E8*** series where multiplier will be everything 500FSB x8 = 4Ghz for E8200. Some people are reporting a FSB wall of @450Mhz for the quad chips but those are engineering/early samples.

I'm hoping those prices are correct because an E8400 with 9x multi for @£100 would be great for me.

Yep. It's the only info available atm. Can't see anywhere that will let you pre-order them.

    Re: Penryn release date....

I've seen some prices in Germany (Euros obviously) and using today'sexchange rate was £129 for the E8400. I expect some price gouging as usual from UK suppliers unless they are available in abundance.

I thought Mesh had gone under. OCUK will be expensive

Yep they probably will be. But if like me you have everything bar a CPU sitting around the extra £20 might not be so hard to stomach.

I'd never heard of Mesh till I found the E8400 on their site. Spoke to a person on the phone and a couple of people via their online chat tool. So they're still in existence. Frigging incompetent though.

MESH Computers - Award Winning PCs Since 1987

for the record Mesh had the E8400 listed for 164 inc VAT.

I've not seen any pricing on any of these CPUs. Neither Mesh or Overclockers.co.uk seem to have them up. Can anyone provide a link?
