Dodgy Batch of Shuttle DVD Drives?

The anniversary model Shuttle comes with a DVD drive, card reader and a few other extra's..... i know of 2 people lately that have received their Shuttle Anniversary models and they both arrived with a dead DVD drive?

Is there a dodgy batch of Shuttle DVD drives going about???

I have one of these drives. They are not dodgy, they just have very high latency opening mechanism.

I have one too... but it just seems too coincidental that I know 2 people that have bought these lately and they both arrived with duff cd drives.

Thats the problem I have, I sent the drive back to the place i purchased my shuttle from (MicroDirect), according to one of the technicians the drive isn't faulty. He was also saying I mgiht have to pay the testing fee and postage as it was found not faulty, £11.70 + ~£4!!! In the last email i recieved (30mins ago) they want me to send my shuttle back.....

But i have tried two drives in the shuttle and both of them work flawlessly. I really don't want to have to send the shuttle back as its not worth it, after paying the postage costs for the shuttle and the postage on the DVD drive i sent last week, i could buy bought a new one....

I don't suppose you bought yours from Micro Direct?

Mines defiantly faulty, when i booted the system the drive would not eject, the system wouldn't boot, and the activity light was constantly on. If i disconnect the drive, all is ok. This didn't happen all the time, but it did happen regularly.
