Hey all, as you might be knowing , im running my e6300 on 3.0Ghz, with my Kingston value ram 667Mhz on 856Mhz with the FSB at 428Mhz.
Today, just for fun, i tried to push it further to see how far I can go, hearing that value ram restricts you etc etc.
I was able to set the FSB at 457, giving the CPU 1.435v in BIOS ( Dont know why it shows 1.30 in all other softwares ), the CPU reached 3.2Ghz, booted up fine, ran OCCT, all stable with acceptable temps.
The main issue was the ram, since my board has 1:1 ratio, my ram was running on 914Mhz, I didnt even have to increase the voltage from 1.9. Ran memtests, everything, and it was stable, no errors in Burnit tests either. Just that I had relaxed the timings to 6-6-6-15. I dont know if that effects performance much, as in all the benchmarks, the ram was giving awesome results, and rather expected, surpassing 800Mhz ram by alot of margin.
So what I want to know is that, is it normal for value ram to be overclocked this well? or is it my set of sticks? , plus is it safe if I dont have to increase the vdimm above 1.9, or lets say 2.0 If i go further?
Plus whats the point of buying 800 ram, or even 1066 if 667 Value ram can give such results, specially on such low voltages?
Any comments are welcome, im not very experienced with OC'ing, I learnt it on this forum , from you guys! Thanx
