Opinions on these two cheap mobo+cpu bundles please!

A mate is looking to do a very cheap upgrade.

    He thinks this:

Mobo+CPU choice 1 + 1 extra gig of unbranded RAM

But I was just looking at this:

    Mobo+CPU choice 2 + 2 gigs RAM.

I've got a spare LGA775 heatsink, so that's not an issue, but unfortunately it's out of stock. Haven't yet found an alternative as haven't had time yet. Does anyone know of a good mobo + cpu deal, or just a good cheap mobo with onboard graphics?

The second bundle is the best by far as it has a dual core processor and better quality memory.

This is a good alternate bundle from Ebuyer if you do not want to overclock your processor:

    Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 675MHz/PC2-5400 XMS Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4(4-4-4-12) Heat Spreader Lifetime Warranty £26.99 £22.97 £26.99 £22.97

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Socket AM2 (2.2GHz) L2 1MB (2x512KB) Retail Boxed Processor £40.60 £34.55 £40.60 £34.55

    Foxconn A690GM2MA-RS2H 690G Socket AM2 onboard VGA 6 channel audio mATX Motherboard £35.82 £30.48 £35.82 £30.48

    Cart total inc vat: £103.41

*FREE SHIPPING ON THIS ORDER» Total:£103.41

The onboard graphics is pretty decent considering it is based on the X700:

I have a 690G based board (an asus M2A-VM) which I got for £34 and it is fantastic quality.

If you do want to stick with intel though
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

    Something like

Speaking of AMD chipsets, I did a pals recent media centre build with a MSI K9AGM2 and can only praise it, nice little stable board

Re: Opinions on these two cheap mobo+cpu bundles please!

Thanks for your help guys. Ended up speccing a choice of 690V/690G based mobos (Gigabyte or Asus) as per your advice, with an Athlon X2 4200+, 4 gigs of Corsair RAM, and a terabyte of storage (Samgsung Spinpoint T1, 500 Gig *2) for only £255. Nice
