    lol well break it down.

CPU .. you can get the E2140 cheaper but only a couple of quid.

Memory. a couple of weeks ago you would have picked up PC6400 for about £28 but can't think of any that cheap at the moment, plus with the 800mhz fsb on the cpu, the pc5300 will be more than enough.

Graphics card. The 3850pro overclocks to 3870 speeds but for the sake of £10 -£15 you might as well get the 3870.

You could run the PC on a slightly lower spec antec case + psu (£55ish with a 380w earthwatts.. 500w will be good for any future power hungry upgrades)

Not sure about the monitor. Ebuyer do a extra value one for about £100 but it's probably naff.

Not wanting to be pedantic but I said "Can anyone beat that spec for £500?" Not "Can anyone shave money off"...

You could easily reduce the cost by dropping the spec, but can you raise it without going over £500?

    EDIT: Woohoo! New name!

Given the 3850pro overclocks so well and can be had for £105, my spec is better than yours (but very similar) 2.0 - 2.2 out of the box depending on which one you buy, larger hard drive ..

but it's not really going to prove all that different.
