Question about PCI-E slots and Crossfire
Hey there, while checking out an ASUS P5K board, I read the following:
2 x PCI-E 16x, Crossfire 16x, 4x
The board had 2 PCI-E slots, supports crossfire, but in crossfire, one slot is 16x while the other is 4x, what does that imply? Shouldnt they both be 16x? Isnt this a drawback? one card working on 16x and one on 4x, wont that be a waste? Im a noob with all this so any info would be welcome, Thanks again.
Re: Question about PCI-E slots and Crossfire
No, that is correct for a P-35 board, one 4x and one 16x PCI-e slots. It essentially meansyou get less bandwith across the 4x slot as the 16x slot.
The new X-38 and X-48 intel chipsets come with 2 PCI-E 16x slots
