ahhh haaaaaaa.. nice one.
Too expensive though, where is the 9300?
I'm glad to see that scan have got the E8400 at @ £130. Hopefully this will drop as E6750s become less available. I'm still waiting for a decent number of people to report back with the overclock(ability) with regard to these new chips. There are mixed reports for retail chips.
It's looking like the Q6600 has been an awesome chip at @£160 for the GO stepping. My mind is still not made up. Dammit DAMMIT (sorry for the Inq reference but) you need to pull something out the bag to give us a choice through competition.
the q9450 is not too bad. when will it be released? im waiting on this along with x48 mobo?
Some CPUs are being released a bit later near April time.
Personally unless people can actually make use of quads they are a waste, exception being the Q6600 since its quite cheap.
but in this round...
you have E8400 9x333 at only £130, its just an amazing buy in a world with at most duals being supported in games.
quads are not a waste at all. they are future proof cpu's that within a year or two quad core will be the norm
It's not a waste if you make good use of them. A couple of friends are mine do a lot of 3D work and the quads are invaluable for rendering.
Also dividing up the core's between task's yourself is very handy.
You're right, if you have a specific use for them now. However I disagree with Josh's argument that they are a futureproof investment. If you don't need a quad now there's no point in buying one for the future.
Aye, may as well wait til the prices fall a bit if nothing else. Very happy to see these though, thanks Mike:)
Of course now I've found out that my motherboard actually supports the Yorkfield processors (with a beta bios) I'm starting to get tempted... :P
No such thing as future proof in this game .... exactly the same was being said about C2D only 18 months ago. In two years time there will be CPUs available that will leave the current sooperchips in the dust for relatively little money. Desirable they may be - future-proof thay aint IMHO.
I regularly maxed out a dual, and so Quad made sense.
Try this: Internet Explorer (or Firefox in my case) with several tabs. Media Player. Skype in use with mates online gaming. 2 Spread sheets and a Word Document. Now boot Lineage 2 (or WoW) and set it to trade in a market town, and then Alt TAb out. Now boot IL-2 1946 or any other game, with the game browser needed, and fly a mission and then, when you crash and you're waiting for your mates, Alt Tab out to surf.
And all the time....Folding :)
I love my quad. It is awesome.
