I doubt you'll be able to get an LCD like that, or even a Crystalfontz one without going to Crystalfontz themselves. Take a look at this thread on bit-tech:

    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=48600

A bunch of people have all grouped together and bought a graphical LCD each for a very small amount of money. I think they paid something like £14 each, which is bleeding good!

anyhooooo, get yourself 20 people who want one, and it's a bargain

yep you can buy em with the cables for about $10 more than the screen itself, although looking @ the thread theo posted im not sure how theyve gotten them as cheep as £14 per screen (maybe over 1000 people ordered?) i was looking at the crystalfontz order site:http://www.crystalfontz.com/cgi-bin/...pl?product=631 and it says ude have to order over 1000 units before u could pay as little as $33

naah i cant see this working out,for 20 lcd,s it would work out over $1200 and i couldnt personally personally pay that, besides i wouldnt know where to start organising something like this i think its gonna have to be something similar to theo,s thread where some 1 who owns an online store or something would organise it,seems like an awful lot of trouble for a man of my means

I'd also be interested in putting together but similarly, wouldn't go above £35 and it also seems we'd struggle to get them at that...

Well, I think the standard floppy bay kits from crystalfontz come to about £50 inc P&P which isn't much above £35 anyway, but I just feel that extra £15 would be going to far!!

I really just wanted a little something to jazz up my shuttle for around 20 quid but that ain't gonna happen! Surely there must be a closer and cheaper supplier of such things than crystalfontz? I would've thought the LCD PCB component for this would come in at around a tenner...

you can get such displays goof from the likes of maplins etc but the problem is wiring them up and getting them to display what you want them too,,i have 2 displays very similar to a matrix orbital (out of visa machines @ work) 2x20 sitting collecting dust here but thats becouse i donno how to get them wired and working otherwise im shure ide have used em by now.
im shure wiring isnt realy that hard but im such a fan of usb these days that even if i knew how to wire up using a serial cable i wouldnt bother doing it,sometimes its just worth paying the extra for the ease of mind.

reguarding the group buy i think it would be alot safer and more efficient if someone who owned some kindov online comp store or whatever could organise it,it realy would be a great idea if we could all club together and get a bumper load of cheap lcd,s but its finding some1 to head such a shopping spree

ide buy atleast 2 for sure!

    I'd take one maybe 2.
R-points pyramid scheme is NOT allowed on HEXUS. Please do not add it back again - thank you.
