Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P - Work straight out of box with wolfdale?

    Hi.

Could anyone please tell me if the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) will work straight out of the box with the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P mobo?

    Cheers.

It would depend which BIOS the motherboard has. So probably not.

More to the point (for me anyway ), will my ABIT IP35 (DARK RAIDER ) work out of the box with an E8400? Cos if it doesn't, how do I update the BIOS - do I have to buy a crappy S775 celeron or something to do this with?

Just came across this..GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-P35-DS3P (rev. 1.1) So thearetically it should, as it is ready for the 45nm cpu. Even though you may have to update the BIOS.

you should be able to boot with it, most likely it'll show incorrect CPU settings and wrong/unknown CPU name, you can just upgrade the BIOS using the facility within the BIOS itself.
Either a floppy or a formatted bootable USB flash drive/pen drive

Just doubt the bios is current on the delivered board.

Cheers, seems my 8 year old floppy drive that I keep in a drawer for exactly this kind of eventuality (and single 3.5" disk that I stole from work in 2002) is going to come to the rescue yet again

(touch wood it'll just work though)

    2. Add FP-Audio function.
    3. Add DRAM Command Rate Function.
    4. Support Wolfdale Processor.

IMO it should work fine out of the box, I bought an Abit IP35-Pro last week, it shipped with the latest official BIOS and that supports 45nm CPUs.

    Maybe...maybe not!
Theres no guarantee that the bios will be the same on all stock.

If you are buying from Scan, they will flash to the latest BIOS for an extra tenner before they ship it.

Re: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P - Work straight out of box with wolfdale?

Should work, one of the selling points was that it was compatible with the 45nm 1333FSB processors. That's one reason I got the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R. Though you might need a BIOS update, it should work
