Question Ballistix 2GB ram timings/voltage etc

    right tomorrow my Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500 come...
Going to be using in on a Abit IP-35 Pro, iP35 Express, S 775 ...
apparently I might need to enter the voltages etc...
now i have the ram sat in a sealed cardboard box here but I highly doubt inside it'd tell me the timings so I was wondering what timings and voltages to use?
    and i shouldn't go above 2.1v right?

well u can if u got some more cooling. 2.35 I hit 1135mhz at 5-5-5-18 iirc. Or somewhere near there.

Re: Ballistix 2GB ram timings/voltage etc

Listed timings are: 5-5-5-15 @ 1066, but it can probably do better. The Ballistix do seem to suffer from untimely deaths at high voltage/heat, so I`d get it working At stock volts and then try lowering the volts whilst checking for stability. I expect you`d need approx. 2.0v.

The Ram is listed at 2.2v which I think is their rated maximum.

They can do this and more, at cas3 it can go a lot higher than this shot:

I'd get a dominator fan though or some other way of actively cooling them

i was just asking for STOCK ratings....
but yeah I will overclock later on...
so what is the "stock" settings to make it run at the speeds its meant to?
5-5-5-12-2 @ 2.1?or 2.0? don't wanna cook it nor go over what i should need.

Re: Ballistix 2GB ram timings/voltage etc

2.2v is what it's rated for, and unless you have active cooling I would not exceed this voltage.

It took less than 3 months for 2.3v to destroy my Ballistix in a well ventilated case, but with no memory specific active cooling.

Or you can open up CPU-Z and check the SPD tab.

The memory itself says 2.2v for its EPP.
