Will this cooler fit on a P5B which still has all its heat sinks/pipes attached?
Yes.
it has quite high clearance so I'd say yes. unless those heatsink pipes are mountains then it will fit.
Yes it will, I have one on a P5B deluxe.
Hope you all don't mind a small resurrect, here.
I've got a Mountain Mods Twice 7 case, which is fairly big (imho). It's basically a 14" cube. It's split into 2, one side for the mobo, and one side for PSU, optical drives and hard drives.
I've been looking out for a new cooler from my e6600. Several sites indicate that, if price isn't important, this - well the ultra120extreme is probably the best cooler you can get.
My question: how much space/clearance do you need to mount this?
As indicated above, there's "about" 7 inches (half of 14) between where my mobo starts and the edge of the case. 7in ~ 17.5cm. Will that be enough? The Ultra 120 (Extreme) looks huuuge...
Thanks, in advance.
that will be a tight squeeze. measure where your cpu starts to the top of the case for an accurate answer. the ultra 120 is 160.5mm tall. So you'll have to add your cpu height and mobo + the standoffs to know exactly. If the cpu to case top is around 17.5 then you can just fit it in. otherwise just for for the 90mm edition of this heatsink. i think its called ultima or something but it's just as good from what I hear.
The Ultima 90 is indeed very good. If you use it with a 120mm fan then be aware that the height will be increased passed the top of the heat pipes. With a 92mm fan it sits within the confines of the heatsink.
Yeah, I'd advise going with a 92mm fan on the Ultima 90. It'll be the best solution that will fit. It's not so much the size of the 120mm fan on it, but the fan clips, which extrude about another 10-12mm on top. But why guess? If you email Thermalright they normally answer within a couple of days.
Bought the 120 and fitted it with just enough clearance :D
Your "My System" page doesn't have a lot on it mate, so I can't see what case you have... :embarrassed:
Thanks for the other posts, as well.
Yeah, I saw the "90" edition. Slightly cheaper, slightly inferior, slight smaller, but in each case, not by much...
I'll have me a think about it. Thanks. :rockon2:
Only half the weight.
