DVD writer problem?

Hi guys I got a problem with my new dvd-rw. I bought the LiteOn LDW-811S 8x DVD±R/±RW Drive - Retail from overclockers and also bought from there the Discrite 4.7GB 4x DVD-R White Swirl (25 Tub).
What I want help on is whhy cant that writer read them DVD's? The writer is supposed to write DVD+R / DVD-R / DVD+RW / DVD-RW / CD-R / CD-RW media, n them dvd's are dvd-r...whats wrong???

The DVd i got bundled with it works and thats a DVD-R too

Can anyone ellaborate for me? is there something i've misunderstood??

have you burned to them first? i assume that if you havent, you mean the drives not recognising them, which would then prevent you from being able to burn to them.
if they burn ok with no errors, but then cant be read then it might be due to having bad disks or any number of things... dont know much about dvd-r problems...

they cant be read . I put dcd in it spins, put nero on add files to it press burn n it stays there. V annoying, new dvd-rw n cant burn owt yet

I've got the same drive and I've had absolutely no problems with it. It's burnt DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW and CD fine so far.

What version of Nero have you got? Is it DVD compatible? Have you tried the software that came with the drive (mySonic DVD)?

yea i tried the software that came with it, n it doesnt work either, my version of nero is 6.0.0.23 its def dvd compatable. whats your version Aaron???
