    P182 Fan Upgrades

    Hi guys,

Considering 120mm fans are quite cheap, I'm looking at replacing my Antec P182 TriCools, just a few questions:

What would you recommend? I want something that's quiet when at minimum, but works very well when turned up.

Are 120mm case fans standard fitting or do my P182 fans have special mounts so I'd have to bodge the fans on? I know you get 3 with the case with an optional 2 spaces for more fans, I want to fill up all 5 spaces.

Also, if I change the fans, will I be able to control their speed from the motherboard?

    Thanks

Just to let you know, i have found the Tricools to be really quite good, and would be surprised (although pleasantly) if you could buy any worthwhile alternatives for under £15 each.

    Re: P182 Fan Upgrades

Your requirements to me describe the tri-cools pretty much perfectly lol.

I use a sharkoon golf ball in front of the hard drives in the upper cage of mine. It's as quiet if not more so than the tri-cools and does the job. You will struggle to find a fan to fit in front of the bottom hard drive tray as it is not standard size. You would need to mod the case or find a low profile fan.

Nexus, Scythe S-Flex, the cheapy xigamtek fans on scan are all very good.

I'm not quite seeing the point though to be honest unless you are reall struggling with the Tri-Cools. I love mine think they do exactly what is required on low/med and are next to silent on Low.

Most motherboards let you control the fans from the bios yes.

    Re: P182 Fan Upgrades

Ok, can I just buy two more TriCools from somewhere then? I'm not sure where to get them from?

On the Antec website it mentions the molex connectors on the tricool fans can unplug from the fan exposing a 3 pin connector that can go on the motherboard, is that true? I'd quite like to use Speedfan/Q-Fan as I turn them right down for web browsing.

    Thanks,

    T

Ah thanks! Is that one the same as this one:

Antec TriCool 120mm DBB Case Fan - Ebuyer

But with the LED? I'd rather not pay for the LED if possible.
