    Wireless Mouse For Laptop

    Hello,

I'm looking for a fairly cheap wireless mouse to use with my laptop. I use my laptop all the time now instead of my desktop, so good battery life and something which is farily comfortable would be good. I know I'll have a big 'thing' sticking out my USB socket, so the smaller the USB attachment the better. Right now I'm using my Logitec Mx510, but would prefer something without a wire.

    Thanks,
    Steven

Not cheap but has a tiny receiver.

If your laptop has bluetooth you could just get a bluetooth mouse.

THis is probably a more comfortable mouse for long usage though

That looks ideal, but is a little over what I want to pay really.

Unfortunately it doesn't have bluetooth.. I could've paid a little extra for it - and was thinking about it - but decided not to.

Edited the above with links and pic.

You can fit the bluetooth module to dells when ever you like, it shouldnt be a difficult upgrade to do.

Same with, RAM, Hard drive, optical and Wireless modules

Oh, I didn't know that. I knew you could obviously upgrade RAM and Hard Drive (although I was never sure how easy it was compared with PC) but didn't know I could add a bluetooth module, though, I wouldn't know where to start.

    Re: Wireless Mouse For Laptop

RAM is just a plate to unscrew on the bottom and it slots in. 2 minute job.

Hard drive slides out the side of most dells. It's in a little caddy which you need to unscrew and screw the new one to. 5 minute job.

Wireless is normally again a little plate on the bottom. The arials are inside you just need to fit them to the module and screw the module in. 5 minute job.

Bluetooth is anyones guess. It will be in the manual, sometimes it again is on the bottom or it can be under the keyboard which is an annoyance but not too diffucult to do as long as you are careful.

    Re: Wireless Mouse For Laptop

I've just had a look on the dell website and seen them for around £20. I just need to decide if it would be worth paying £20 for one then another £20 for the mouse. Or just buying a wireless mouse with a small adaptor.

    Re: Wireless Mouse For Laptop

On my laptop (xps m1330) I have have two USB ports so I would probably go the bluetooth route but (and its a big but) I am yet to see a bluetooth mouse that I would actually buy.

For the vostro I think I would probably go with either of the Logitech mice in the 2nd post. The VX rev if comfort is the ultimate requirement of the nano for the convenience of being able to leave the reciever plugged in without any danger of it breaking.

I've also only got 2 USB slots, so that's why I'm maybe starting to favour Bluetooth a little. What's the problem with bluetooh mice? What at the moment is stopping you from buying one?

For me it's been the price - I hadn't seen one for less than about £30 but when I looked just now I found this Microsoft one:
Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 for £19. If I hadn't just bought a wireless keyboard/mouse kit, I'd have been sorely tempted.

There's always the the dinky dongle from Trust, if you don't have bluetooth. (Trust BT-2400p Bluetooth 2.0 Ultra Small USB Adapter)

One other option is to simply get one of those USB extension cables and a small piece of blutack. Run the cable round the back and blutack the reciever on the lid of the laptop.

Not the most elegant looking solution but is fairly robust

I think that mouse looks really good! In order for it to work, I would have to buy that receiver you posted, or buy a bluetooth module to fit inside my laptop. Either that or just buy a normal bluetooth mouse.

That said they are awful to use. One of the most uncomfortable mice i've used.

    Re: Wireless Mouse For Laptop

I got one of these recently for my laptop

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

They're nothing special, but they're cheap and functional, and you can store the USB dongle inside the mouse which is handy (although the dongle might be a little large for your tastes, 'bout the size of a pendrive.....that logitech one looks great).
