    !!HELP!! SAMSUNG SATA Optical Drive

    please could someone tell me how to get my bios on a striker extreme motherboard to recognize a sata optical drive without windows being installed.

    can you set the SATA controller to IDE emulation mode (iirc Asus come preset to AHCI)?

    It shouldn't have any problem recognising the drive, Windows or no Windows. Have you checked the cables are all correctly and firmly connected? Try different cables (SATA and power). Try connecting to a different SATA port. Try the drive in another PC.

    There may be an option in the bios, saying 'cdrom on sata' or something like that, they have all just worked fine in the past for me.
