Re: Probs with e8400, post here if you have one.
simply because im used to stuff i say being closed(not here ofc) but it was just a note as things tend to get closed anywhere.
Update: still waiting on intel and does any1 have an asus p5n-d, should i update my bios? as i dont see any from asus that are specific to the new 45nm cores. Seems fine in america the board does and the bios updates are for overclocking probs.

4.37 Gigawiggles - Ok? Yours is more than ok! What cooler are you using to achieve that? Maybe the only problem with the E8400s is that intel supplies a piss poor cooler?
Re: Probs with e8400, post here if you have one.
Yes, the stock cooler is piss poor, but there's something definitely off with my E8400. I mounted my Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme last night. Admittedly the base isn't perfectly flat, and my HSF mounting skills may not be wonderful, but with such a huge chunk of metal to help cool it, there'd have to be something wrong for the temps not to drop much. Mine only dropped by 2-3°C at idle and by ~5°C at load. I really don't get the impression that the E8400 is actually running that hot. Both the stock cooler and my TRUE felt cool to the touch. In fact there was no heat in any part of the TRUE at all, even touching the heatpipes and base of the cooler. You'd think that if there was something at 40°C or more underneath it, then you would be able to detect that by touch.
This chip seems to run icy cold, but doesn't report it accurately. To be sure, I probably need to lap the TRUE and do a better job of mounting it, and also for Abit to get off their bloody backsides and fix the BIOS of the IP35 Pro.

It is on water but I am at my ram limit. Just got some more crucial ballistix today as previous set would only get to 450. My corsairs limit is 485.

That's what many are hoping for. With such a popular board you would have thought they would fix it. Their site just says N/A for E8x00 compatibility with the IP35 pro.
