Power Supply - can it handle this?

I just bought a 8800GTS and have fitted it to my PC, along with another 250gb HDD. In order to get enough power leads to the HDD i had to use a SATA power lead from a Zalman 500watt PSU. It fits into my Corsair 520 without any problems but with this & my new graphics card plugged in my PC wont turn on at all.

Like i said above its a Corsair 520watt PSU connected to:

Antex 900 (1 x 250mm fan, 3 x 120mm)
Gigabyte 5 mobo
2gb Corsair RAM
Intel quad core 6600
2 x 250gb WD HDDs
1 x500 gb WD HDD
1 x SATA samsung lightscribe cd/DVD drive
BFG 8800GTS


The zalman SATA power lead is connecting 1 x 250gb HDD, 1 x 500gb HDD and my Cd drive.

I bought this PSU a few weeks ago, have i gone and cocked up & bought too small a PSU? Or Could the problem just be a zalman lead in a corsair PSU?

hmm, what cpu are u running? because at load i believe an 8800GTS uses 200W, so basicly you have 320W for the cpu, mobo etc. I use a 700w for my gts and e8400, asus p5n-d 2gb pc6400. 1 Hard drive and 5 case fans and 2 drives.

I would think something is not connected, normally the psu will cut out not just ignore booting, from experience anyways. Check the plugs etc, reply back here.

Sorry, added CPU, Its a Q6600. Iv checked all the plugs, everything seems fitted snuggly. It only seems to non-boot when this zalman lead is plugged in.

The 520w should swallow that system no problem.

I built the same PC with the older more power hungry GTS and the more power hungry B3 q6600 as well as 2 hard drives.

So if you unplug the zalman cable does it work again? Get a molex to sata power adapter if this is the case. I'm guessing the corsair just wants corsair cables..

Thanks for the responses guys. I changed from the 3 connecter Zalman to the 2 connecter Corsair and it works fine now.

Id rather not have to get an adapter to power my last SATA power'd HDD, just for the sake of tidyness and air flow in the case & the fact iv got a setup perfect for a 3 SATA power cable. Iv had a look on scan for any aftermarket Corsair cables but didnt have much luck. Am i likely to find one or should i just bite the bullet and get an adapter?
