    CPU cooler

    hey...

i want a gd CPU cooler for my new custom computer.

i was looking at the (Akasa AK-960E Intel LGA 775, Dual/Quad 3.8Ghz+ 3 HeatPipe, Alu Fin Heatsink Fan PWM Fan & EBR) or (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - P4 up to 4.4GHz - S775 Dual/Quad Core Ready).

can u tell me which 1 is better, or another suggestion?

and while im on the topic, will i need a fan for my case, if so, which 1 shud i buy?

    thanks you for any help

    Re: CPU cooler

If you are looking around the £15 mark then the Freezer 7 pro is a very good buy. If you can push to £30 then the thermalright ultima 90 and a xigmatec 120mm fan will do very nicely. Both avaliable at scan.

I do rate the new xigmatec fans very highly you should check them out. Scythe S-Flex are very good but cost a bit more.

If you want silent and cheap but pushing a bit less air then sharkoon golfball / silent eagles are very good.

From your selection i would go for the AC 7 as it is a great budget cooler. There are much better ones, but they are double the price

    Re: CPU cooler

The Ultima 90 is on Scan today only so with the fan Mike suggested would only be ~£26 worth the extra £10 over the ACF7 (in my opinion) if you have the money to spend.

In fact just ordered one for myself (must learn some restraint...)

    Re: CPU cooler

Personally I just went Ultimate 120 Extreme. People were going crazy over the HSF at £32 on OcUK a few months back, so I figured that I won't get much cheaper than sub £30. For it's price, it better work on Nehalem too

Interestingly enough, the price of the S-Flex is pretty much the same as the Slipstream in the UK (from what I see). Makes it kinda tempting to give those a shot.

Maybe....but for under a tenner more you can get the Scythe Mine and the performance on it is far better.
