Re: what PSU should i get?

I'd go for a Corsair PSU - 520watt's version would be enough for that spec if you want modular, or you can get the slightly cheaper 550watt non-modular version. If you want an insanely huge overclock, go for the 620watt or higher models possibly.

Corsair HX series, PC Power & Cooling silencer 750. I seem to remember alot of people liking Enermax(?) on here...... Depends on whether you intend to SLI. Have you already bought these components?

What was your ? for when you stated Enermax.

Enermax are every bit as good as any Corsair out there believe me.

(me along with many others just hopes i dont have to explain it again)

Personally...if i was running that rig, i would go for this: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
(Seasonic are very good PSUs....before anyone says...yeh i know Seasonic make some Corsairs).

On the other hand...and i am BY NO MEANS a fan of Tagan, these: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK look decent and i have been hearing very good noises about these for a few weeks now. (Just look at those connctors aswell.......at last someone is getting right).
    Definitely worth a look!

Re: what PSU should i get?

    Almost beat Blitzen
Simply enough, price per watt rating = quality.
eg. £50 PSU is better than a £40 PSU with the same power.

The better quality PSU you have, the less likely you will have problems with it. And since it is connnected to everything else, if its cheap and it dies, it MAY take down other bits of your PC with it.

Good brands, Enermax and Corsair. But, make sure that its modular, its easier to plug things together (apparantly).

Your spec is similar to mine, but with a slightly bigger CPU and more Hdds.
I'm using an Enemax Liberty 500W, should also work for you (it has more power than I need now, so that I can add more stuff later without haveing to change PSU).
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

(?) was simply because I wasn`t sure what Enermax: Liberty etc. etc. I know you`re a fan Blitzen & I don`t have any problems recommending Enermax.

Yay, sweeping statements. Enermax are fine at the top end of their range, but fall beneath that and you end up with a heap of heatsinks. My last Enermax (700W, and can't remember the model name) couldn't power a system that a 2nd hand 550W Seasonic manages with consummate ease. Enermax do make very good PSUs, and you obviously know that, but don't assume that they're all good.

Same goes for Corsair while they fanny about with different companies making their PSUs. The Seasonic ones are as brilliant as the Seasonic PSUs themselves, their CWT ones are budget (though still OK for the money).

PC Power and Cooling make some excellent supplies, but they wake Jesus up with the noise they normally make. Slightly over the top, but far from quiet.

The PSU market isn't exactly swimming with loads of decent choices at the moment.

Still not so sure about this.
Im not doubting your info but i havent heard any other problems anywhere else.

This has a 'Antec vs ASUS' ring about it from a couple of years back.

Corsair 520 is a good one to get. Modular means that the cables are not permanently fixed to the PSU. You have a choice of which ones to use / plug in. Generally though, the 24pin and 4 pin ATX cables 'are' fixed.

Re: what PSU should i get?

5 "incompatible" Galaxy 1K PSUs inside a year is pretty conclusive to me.

It appears as if the Galaxy and Infiniti need a revision with each new wave of motherboards, which is fine if you only intend on keeping one motherboard for the lifetime of the PSU.

"You know, owning an Enermax Galaxy 1K is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman...You start by rummaging around in the box, carefully turning her on until she emits a high pitched whine and fries your equipment."

My apologies, it's 600W. Fooled by the name when I noticed it the other day.

Seasonic (M-series), Corsair HX or PC Power & Cooling (Silencer if you want something quiet). And if you don't mind me saying, I'd swap the GTX for the G92 GTS. You lose nothing but save at least £50 (extra memory make no practical difference).
