    5.1 Speaker Advice

    After your opinions chaps.

I'm currently listening to a set of Philips SPA2600 (5.1) which while sound crisp and clear have unfortunately no bass whatsoever. Also one of the speakers is now crackling.

So I've decided to buy a new set. What do you guys reckon to either of these Logitechs' x540 OR G51. Looks aren't important, neither is humongous amounts of power, but a good sound range with clarity is.

    Thanks

N.B. I've dismissed the Z-5500's because they are way too expensive and also the subwoofer is far to big.

Normally I would suggest the Gigaworks (pretty much 'reference' as far as multimedia speakers goes). Looking at your choices though, I take it that you are not looking to spend more than £100-ish. It might be a challenge to find a 5.1 setup beyond ordinary.

If you don't mind second hand gear, I would suggest you keep an eye on second hand Creative Megaworks (500 and 550D) and Videologic Digitheatres (they remain some of the best all-rounder with good mids and highs and tight bass).

Gigaworks if you can afford them. They are damn nice.

I have the 7.1 ones hooked up to an X-fi elite pro. DVDs and Music sound better then on anything else I've ever heard it on

Great...... but that doesn't really help. For as much as I would like a set their too expensive and big.

Has anyone actually heard the difference between the X540 and the G51's. Is it it worth the price difference for the G51's.
