    New System

Just ditched my s939 and should be receiving the following from Scan tomorrow:

    Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 G0 OEM
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR2 6400 5-5-5-15 64bit OS DHX
    Abit IP-35, Dark Raider
    Scythe Miné

That came to just over £300, not bad considering I'll get about £200 for my current 939 setup (hopefully). That'll all be going on the for sale board here once the new system is built.
    See here: http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...39-system.html

Has anyone got experience with with RAM? Scan only just got it into stock this morning for the first time, so would be good to hear some user feedback. One thing I did notice was that the memory is quoted as both 5-5-5-15 and 5-5-5-18 on Scans site.

Should be doing the build tomorrow night, using Vista Ultimate 64bit.

Corsair RAM is ok, can get a bit flakey if you try and overclock it passed stock though.

Not sure how big the mine is as some coolers hover over the RAM due to their size and with the extended height of that RAM it might cause problems but I'm sure it's fine.

If it is too big which I doubt anyway you may just be restricted to the outer two RAM slots.

I didn't even think about the extra height on the RAM. It was a bit of an impulse buy really. I was planning on waiting for the Yorkfields, but got impatient and the thought of a 8x multi on the 9450 didnt fill me with joy!

Its been picked and ready for dispatch, so I'll put it through its paces the second Ive got Vista installed. I've never really used Corsair RAM before so I'm hoping they're decent. I've used GeiL, G.Skill, Mushkin, OCZ etc

    Re: New System

My corsair memory has no problems, but with your Q6600 to OC your RAM your going to need to get your CPU stable at 3.6GHz first.

As to overhanging the memory all I have to say is that if it does you should have bought a Themalright Ultima 90 instead

I have to say I agree

I was a bit hasty ordering yesterday before I went into a meeting, so I missed that the Themalright Ultima 90 was on today only for just £21. Could have got that and a Sharkoon 120mm 2000 for the same price as I paid for the Scythe. Nevermind though, both are still top coolers, but the Thermalight is a couple of c better.

Its all out for delivery today, so just waiting for it all the arrive at my desk.
