Re: Which PSU for my setup?

Just noticed i made a rookie mistake

components from scan came in, still waiting on a mobo from komplett...

but i noticed the xigmatek is too big for my ultima 90 heatsink :S

Looking at their specifications again i realised they are different.

    damnit! lol

edit: or can u use it even though its bigger?

It takes both 120mm and 90mm fans mate

Not sure it comes with clips for both though

Re: Which PSU for my setup?

Theres a tube of Thermalright paste in with the box if memory serves me right.

Just as a side note I built a system last week with an IP35-E Q6600 and the Ultima. I bought a 120 Xigmatek and the 92mm version. TBH there was no real difference, it OC straight to 3GHz temps were fine.
Rather than waste the 120mm I put it into the 5 and a quarter drive area so it was resting on top of the dvd drive. This then blew cool air over the CPU cooler and the Northbridge cooler. This shaved another couple of degrees off.
Those fans are top notch, I could barely hear them unless I got real close to them.
    Space in my skull

Re: Which PSU for my setup?

Well all my parts came in, had slight problems putting it together.

I tried to follow the motherboard manual, but the order of procedures weren't very good causing me to take parts back out to fit other ones before placing them back in.

Also am i meant to have any screws attaching the fan to the heatsink or just the clips?

I don't know if the heatsink is secure, as i can spin the heatsink sitting on the cpu quite easily... it is held down but still can spin it especially with the thermal paste between it.

the heatsink guide is too basic...

well atm the pc is sitting flat on its side so the heatstink definitely wont fall off. i tried turning on the pc see if i can get things working but i have a new problem.

I've posted it on another part of the hexus forums; reply there if yous can help.

No, the connection with the mounting clips may seem a little wobbly but they hold fine

If the screws holding the heatsink are securely in then you should be ok, try and tightening them make sure its secure

Bought one of these to test it out and its horrific! the vibrations are immense and its no where near as quiet as a 2000 rpm sharkoon. You say its quieter than an s-flex... well i think il deffo stick to sharkoons and akasa

Re: Which PSU for my setup?

Perhaps he had a bad SFlex, or you had a bad Xig (seems more likely, they have to be cutting costs somewhere). I can say that my SFlex 1600, on the HS, is effectively silent at full.
