Certainly not in the 1 hours that you left between posts...

Normally switching between IDE and AHCI for SATA involves a reinstall, unless you can install the AHCI drivers for your controller before switching over. I'd imagine that similar principles to the Intel guide would be followed (but tbh I'd just backup and reinstall). Out of interest why are you wanting to switch between the 2? There's not always a massive performance increase for a single disk.

Re: switching to AHCI from IDE ( SATA ) XP

first of all , thanks for reply.

i am trying to install mac osx with xp as dual boot, and the thing is, i cant find drivers for ahci controller for nforce 610i chipset , if u can gimme link to drivers, i will highly appreciate it.
and if i do re install xp , it wont work, ( i read some where about pressing f6 then inserting floppy ) i dont have floppy drive , and i dont have drivers for ahci again...

Re: switching to AHCI from IDE ( SATA ) XP

Surely the solution is just to not bother with AHCI? Isn't there just an IDE mode you can put it in? Most people are just interested with the SATA bandwidth - which you'd still get - rather than the hot-swappable disks and native command queuing, both of which are features that aren't particularly useful for a desktop system.
